Whether you're an experienced singer or simply love to sing in the shower, we'd love you to join us for The Bristol Mix Big Charity Sing in support of Prostate Cancer UK.
Many of us know a friend, partner, father, brother or colleague whose life has been affected by prostate cancer. This special event is an opportunity to come together, celebrate the joy of singing, and help raise vital funds for life-saving research.
Spend the day learning and performing a surprise retro classic with The Bristol Mix – a song that may bring back a few memories for some of our former members! Alongside a fantastic day of music, there'll be refreshments, a raffle, and a bar, making it a great social occasion too.
Everyone aged 18 and over is welcome, and there's no charge to take part. We're particularly keen to welcome more men's voices to help create a well-balanced chorus, so whether you already sing in a choir, have years of singing experience, or have simply always wanted to try singing in harmony, you'll receive a warm welcome.

The last few months have seen 11 new members join The Bristol Mix, strengthening the musical excellence and sense of community that have always been at the heart of our choir.

Our repertoire is always growing, and that's what makes singing with The Bristol Mix so exciting. We're enjoying introducing fresh arrangements and exploring new musical styles.
Recent additions to the repertoire include Wannabe reimagined as an English madrigal, John Rutter's beautiful A Choral Amen , Nearer My God to Thee, and the iconic rock anthem Music Was My First Love. Every new song brings a fresh challenge and a new dimension to our sound.

At our March AGM, we were delighted to welcome Emma Beale as our new Committee Chair. Meanwhile, our inaugural Chair Andy Balchin isn’t going far… he’s swapping hats and moving into the equally vital role of Treasurer.
Andy has been part of The Bristol Mix story from the very beginning — yes, it all started in a bar (as the best ideas do
) — and he’s helped shape the choir into what it is today with insight, dedication, and no shortage of warmth and humour.
From leading the Bass section to lending his unmistakable voice, Andy has given so much to TBM over the past 6½ years — and we’re incredibly grateful he’s staying on the team.

For months—if not years—we’ve had singers from well beyond the Bristol area asking if they could join The Bristol Mix. We’ve listened.
We’re delighted to welcome singers from across the UK. If you’re passionate about singing, enjoy mixed genre music from John Rutter to Billy Joel, love performing at a high level, and can travel to Bristol for rehearsals, we’d love to hear from you—wherever you’re based.
While we welcome singers in all voice parts, we’d especially love to hear from more men. Whether you’re already singing in a men’s chorus, another mixed chorus or choir, or simply looking for an additional musical challenge, we’d be delighted to welcome you.

? The Bristol Mix – A mix in every sense! ?
What a phenomenal experience we’ve just had at convention! Thank you to BABS and everyone involved. We were absolutely thrilled with our performance meaning that The Bristol Mix has now earned a full set of medals: Gold in 2022, Bronze in 2024, and now Silver in 2025 (by the tiniest of margins, no less!) and with a better score in each of the three times we have competed. We couldn’t be prouder of our brilliant, dynamic chorus.
A huge congratulations to Lux A Cappella on a deserved win. You just pipped us this year, and your performance was truly gold-worthy. We wish you every success as you head to International – we know you'll represent mixed barbershop singing with excellence and heart.
As many of you may have heard during the Livestream, there was some discussion about who makes up The Bristol Mix – so we wanted to take a moment to clarify and celebrate our diversity.
We are incredibly fortunate to be part of Bristol’s thriving barbershop scene – quite possibly the largest and most vibrant in the UK! Our members come from a rich variety of local choruses and we are so fortunate to share the support and love for each other. Here is how we are currently made up;
·Fascinating Rhythm – 29%
·Bristol Fashion – 17%
·Great Western Chorus – 14%
·Black Sheep Harmony – 12%
·Avon Harmony – 2%
·Other Barbershop Choruses – 12%
·And perhaps most exciting of all, for 14% of our singers TBM is their only barbershop chorus!
That’s right – our third largest group of people now comes from outside barbershop. We can offer an alternative way of being part of our great hobby, and we love it! Our 4-8 rehearsals and personal learning style means offering those with incredibly busy lives a new way of experiencing our hobby, drawing in singers from outside the barbershop world and bringing fresh voices into our community. This is not just rewarding, it’s essential to our growth and energy.
We are an open, inclusive, and supportive chorus. If you live in the Greater Bristol Area, or sing with another local choir, or you are closely related to someone in The Bristol Mix – we’d love to welcome you! Whether you’re an experienced barbershopper or simply curious about harmony singing, there’s a place for you here.
We truly are a mix in every sense – of voices, backgrounds, and stories – and that’s what makes The Bristol Mix so special.
